April and the Extraordinary World

In 1941 France is still run on steam and ruled by Napoleon V, and Avril (Marion Cotillard), a teenage girl, sets out to find her scientist parents, who have vanished. She carries on their research, with a talking cat, Darwin (Philippe Katerine), for company, and the search leads through a world built on coal and iron. Franck Ekinci and Christian Desmares draw it in the ink-line style of Jacques Tardi's comics.
