“A quest for truth... among lies, deception, and denial.”

Raffi (David Alpay) is a young man held at a Toronto customs desk, where an officer questions him about the film cans he is carrying. His answers lead back to a production about the 1915 siege of Van, with Edward Saroyan (Charles Aznavour) directing and the painter Arshile Gorky (Simon Abkarian) at its center. Atom Egoyan keeps the interrogation and the shoot side by side, and Ani (Arsinée Khanjian) and David (Christopher Plummer) sit through both.
