During the 1979 Iran hostage crisis, six American embassy staff vanish into Tehran's streets. CIA operative Tony Mendez (Ben Affleck) devises an audacious cover: he'll pose as a Canadian filmmaker scouting locations for a science-fiction film called Argo, and walk the six out as his crew. As his team waits to board a plane out of Iran, the revolutionary guards at the airport study their fake passports with meticulous care.
