“Her passion for her art changed the face of history.”

Artemisia Gentileschi (Valentina Cervi) is a young woman in Rome who wants to paint, in a century that expects her to stay out of the studio. Her father, the painter Orazio (Michel Serrault), teaches and shields her, and Agnès Merlet follows the daughter as she grows into an artist of her own. The film treats a woman's talent as work she has to fight for, one canvas at a time.
