Every night, Eugene Fullstack (Jerry Lewis) talks in his sleep, narrating comic book adventures to his roommate Rick Todd (Dean Martin), a painter who can't sell a canvas. Rick starts lifting the dreams for his own work, never guessing that Eugene's favorite comic is drawn by a woman in the same building. Frank Tashlin fills the screen with loud color and song, but Rick stays the one to watch, a man mining his friend's sleep to get ahead.
