As Good as It Gets

“A comedy from the heart that goes for the throat.”

Melvin Udall (Jack Nicholson) is a novelist who is bigoted, obsessive-compulsive and rude to nearly everyone he meets. His one fixed habit is lunch at the same restaurant, served by the same waitress, Carol Connelly (Helen Hunt), a single mother with a chronically ill son. After a robbery leaves his neighbor Simon Bishop (Greg Kinnear), a gay artist, assaulted, James L. Brooks puts the three of them in a room together.
