Asakusa Kid

“I'm a comedian, you fool!”

Takeshi Kitano (Yuya Yagira) is a young man who takes a job as an elevator operator at a strip club in Asakusa, hoping to become a comedian. He ends up as the apprentice of Fukami Senzaburo (Yo Oizumi), a veteran comic who teaches him the trade. Gekidan Hitori adapts Kitano's own memoir, and as the pupil's career rises while the master's slips, the film is about the man who taught him.
