Ashik Kerib

A minstrel named Ashik Kerib (Yuri Mgoyan) sets out across the wilderness, and word of his death travels back ahead of him. He loves a rich merchant's daughter, but her father turns him away, and the only terms left are a thousand and one nights of wandering. Sergei Parajanov and Dodo Abashidze, working from a Lermontov story, ask whether a poor singer can still win her before the count runs out.
