Assault Girls

“Let the game begin.”

Gray (Meisa Kuroki) is a soldier in the virtual reality game Avalon, working a barren desert with a small team of hunters. Lucifer (Rinko Kikuchi), the Colonel (Hinako Saeki) and Jager (Yoshikatsu Fujiki) go after the giant mutant sandwhales for points, each carrying their own weaponry. Mamoru Oshii, who set this in the same universe as his 2001 film Avalon, stages the hunt across an empty landscape of sand and sky.
