At Eternity's Gate

“A Grain of Madness is the Best of Art”

Vincent van Gogh (Willem Dafoe) is a painter nobody wants to buy, living on his brother Theo's (Rupert Friend) money and walking the fields around Arles in the south of France. Julian Schnabel follows him through his last years there, and Paul Gauguin (Oscar Isaac) comes to paint alongside him. For Vincent the work is not a livelihood but the only way he can bear being alive.
