At First Sight
“Science gave him sight. She gave him vision.”
Virgil Adamson (Val Kilmer) has been blind since infancy and works as a massage therapist, with a life he has arranged around what his hands and ears tell him. Amy Benic (Mira Sorvino), an architect who meets him at a spa, pushes him to try an operation that could give him sight. Irwin Winkler, working from a true story, sets the question plainly: what a person gives up when the world finally arrives through his eyes.
