At Midnight I'll Take Your Soul

In a small Brazilian town in 1964, the undertaker Zé do Caixão (José Mojica Marins) bullies his neighbors and answers to no priest or superstition. His wife cannot give him a child, so he kills her and starts looking for a woman worthy of bearing his son. José Mojica Marins directs and stars, and the film rests on one conviction: Zé believes a child is the only immortality there is.
