Dagny Taggart (Samantha Mathis) runs a railroad and wants one thing: the name of the inventor behind a motor that could change how the country moves. Steel producer Henry Rearden (Jason Beghe) joins her search while the government tightens its hold on the economy around them. John Putch sets their shared work against Rearden's marriage to Lillian (Kim Rhodes), and the partnership between Dagny and Henry grows harder to define.
