Atonement

“Torn apart by betrayal. Separated by war. Bound by love.”

Briony Tallis (Saoirse Ronan) is thirteen, and she wants the grown-up world to make sense the way her stories do. Joe Wright follows what happens when she accuses Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), the man her sister Cecilia (Keira Knightley) loves, of a crime he did not commit. The film runs across six decades, and what it holds onto is how one child's certainty can outlast everyone it touched.
