In Copenhagen, the actress Maja (Josephine Park), well past the height of her career, falls for Leah (Ellie Kendrick), a young Jewish academic visiting from London. When Leah has a sudden seizure, Maja follows her home to meet her mother, Chana (Sofie Gråbøl), who rules the household and may be hiding dark secrets. Gabriel Bier Gislason's debut leaves Maja standing in that London home, a stranger among a family that already watches her.
