“Sexy, strange and beautifully deranged.”

Marina (Ariane Labed), 23, finds the human species strange and repellent, and she keeps her distance from nearly everyone in the prototype factory town by the sea where she lives with her architect father. Then a stranger arrives and challenges her to a foosball duel on her own table. Athina Rachel Tsangari films Aspra Spitia with a flat, deadpan stillness, letting these odd people go on moving through it.
