Au Bonheur des Dames

Denise (Dita Parlo), an orphaned girl, arrives in Paris hoping for work at her uncle's shop. Across the street, the department store Au Bonheur des Dames is taking the trade of every small business around it, and she ends up taking a position there. Julien Duvivier films the silent-era store as a busy, crowded machine, and Denise has to find her place inside it.
