“Tops the Best-Seller! Tops the Play! The One and Only!”

A young boy named Patrick (Jan Handzlik) arrives at the door of his aunt, Mame Dennis (Rosalind Russell), after his wealthy father dies and leaves him in her care. Mame lives as she pleases in 1920s New York, and the executor of the estate wants Patrick out of her house and into prep school. Morton DaCosta's film follows the fight over the boy, with his upbringing as the thing on the line.
