Avvai Shanmugi

Pandiyan (Kamal Haasan) has lost his daughter to a divorce, and the only way back into her house is to apply for a job there as a female governess, so he turns up in a sari as the elderly Avvai Shanmugi. K. S. Ravikumar sets the disguise inside the home of Pandiyan's father-in-law, Vishwanathan Iyer (Gemini Ganesan). Pandiyan's ex-wife Janaki (Meena) lives under that same roof, and she has no idea the new housekeeper is the man she divorced.
