“The Vagabond”
In a courtroom in 1951 India, a petty thief named Raj (Raj Kapoor) stands accused of attempted murder, and the man he is charged with trying to kill is a lawyer. Raj Kapoor, who also directed, tells the case through flashbacks that tie the thief to the lawyer and to Rita (Nargis), who is set to defend him. The court sits in silence while Raj stands in the dock, the crime still unexplained.
