Away from Her

“It's never too late to become what you might have been.”

Fiona (Julie Christie) has started losing small things, and then the words for them, until her husband Grant (Gordon Pinsent) can no longer call it absent-mindedness after nearly fifty years of marriage. She moves into a specialized nursing home, and when he visits, she is slowly turning toward Aubrey (Michael Murphy), another patient. Sarah Polley, directing her first feature from an Alice Munro story, keeps the camera steady and close on Grant as he watches.
