“A father, a son, a revolution.”

Melvin Van Peebles (Mario Van Peebles) sets out to make a film no studio will touch, and he funds it with bad checks, a tricked fire department, and whatever else he can talk his way into. His son Mario (Khleo Thomas) watches from the set at eleven years old, pulled into scenes no boy that age should be shooting. Directing his own father, Mario Van Peebles plays Melvin as a man who would risk nearly everything he has to get the picture made.
