Why would the children of vaudeville veterans decide to stage a show of their own? Mickey Moran (Mickey Rooney) has two stage performers for parents and the idea that he and his girlfriend Patsy Barton (Judy Garland) can put one on themselves. Busby Berkeley directs, and a former child actress, Rosalie Essex (June Preisser), wants Patsy's spot in the show and Mickey's attention too.
