In 1961, Adam J. Niles (Bob Hope), an author of sleazy books, leaves his bachelor life behind and moves into a family-oriented subdivision. The housewives soon take to him as an unofficial relationship advisor, and Rosemary Howard (Lana Turner) is one of the neighbors he meets. Jack Arnold directs this as a story about how little privacy a small community allows, where every kitchen conversation becomes a matter of public suspicion.
