It's 1885 in the Old West, and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) learns that Doctor Emmett Brown (Christopher Lloyd) is stranded seventy years in the past with no way home. Marty pilots the DeLorean back to rescue him, only to find Doc has built a life with Clara Clayton (Mary Steenburgen), a schoolteacher who loves him. Zemeckis sends Marty careening through time and gunfights to save his friend, knowing the cost of leaving someone behind.
