Back to the Wall

“A MAN... HIS WIFE... HER LOVER... the wall held the secret”

Jacques Decret (Gérard Oury) is a rich industrialist who finds out his wife Gloria (Jeanne Moreau) is sleeping with a young actor. He answers with a stream of anonymous letters, and Gloria comes to believe her lover is sending them. Édouard Molinaro builds the film on the idea that a marriage can turn into a long, quiet act of cruelty between two people who still share a house.
