Backdraft

“Silently behind a door, it waits. One breath of oxygen and it explodes in a deadly rage. In that instant it can create a hero...or cover a secret.”

A string of arson fires keeps turning up across Chicago, and no one at the department can say who is setting them. Brian McCaffrey (William Baldwin) joins his brother's firehouse just as arson investigator Donald Rimgale (Robert De Niro) starts tracing the pattern, and Ron Howard puts the camera inside the flames. Brian and Stephen (Kurt Russell) share a family name and a dead father's legacy, and they can barely stand each other.
