“It was a dangerous time to be a woman. And a good time to have friends.”

Someone out of their past is making sure four women who left the trade in Colorado never get to leave the territory. Cody Zamora (Madeleine Stowe) and Anita Crown (Mary Stuart Masterson) ride north with Eileen Spenser (Andie MacDowell) and Lily Laronette (Drew Barrymore), chasing a better life after a killing and a prison escape. Jonathan Kaplan has all four of them on horseback together, riding toward Pinkerton detectives and a bank job.
