“There is no future without the past!”

Tamás Merthner (Gábor Reisz) is 33 and heartbroken, left behind in Budapest after his girlfriend Anna (Katica Nagy), away on a scholarship in Paris, ends things. Reisz, who also directs, has him go back through their years together, testing whether love only shows itself once it is nearly gone. Tamás sits with his memories, and with a Hungary he has begun to see as confused as he is.
