Ballad of a Hussar

A young girl cuts her hair, puts on a uniform and rides off to fight Napoleon with a Hussar squadron. Shura Azarova (Larisa Golubkina) passes for a man, and she turns out to be an excellent soldier, which only makes things harder for Lieutenant Rzhevsky (Yuriy Yakovlev) and the rest of the unit once the truth starts to show. Eldar Ryazanov stages the whole thing as a musical comedy, with songs breaking into the war story.
