Ballad of Orin

Orin (Shima Iwashita) is a blind travelling musician who wants only to keep playing, but she is expelled from her group after losing her virginity. She wanders the countryside alone, poor and often mistreated, until she finds brief company in Heitaro (Yoshio Harada), an army deserter. Shinoda follows her slowly from one road and village to the next, never hurrying her along.
