“Dreams do come true.”

Gum, an explorer, sends home three orphans one at a time, and his niece Sylvia (Emilia Fox) raises Pauline (Emma Watson), Petrova (Yasmin Paige) and Posy (Lucy Boynton) as sisters in 1930s London. Then Gum fails to come back from his latest expedition, and the household has to find a way to pay its bills. Sandra Goldbacher keeps the camera close on the cramped, busy house and the three girls moving through it.
