Balloon

“One of the most daring escapes of the Cold War.”

A balloon sewn at home in East Germany crashes just short of the border, and Peter Strelzyk (Friedrich Mücke) and his wife Doris (Karoline Schuch) have to build another while the Stasi studies what the first one left behind. The Wetzels, Günter (David Kross) and Petra, join them, with four children between the two families. Michael Herbig paces it as a countdown, giving each day of fabric and fuel the pressure of a clock.
