Bandidas

“Being bad never looked so good!”

Maria Alvarez (Penélope Cruz) is a rough-edged peasant girl in late-19th-century Mexico, and Sara Sandoval (Salma Hayek Pinault) is the educated heiress whose family a ruthless baron has already ruined. Each has lost everything to him, and together they start robbing banks as a way of getting justice. Rønning and Sandberg, directing as a pair for their first feature, keep the stagecoach chases and gunfights moving at a quick, cheerful clip.
