Bandit Queen

“Revenge was her reply.”

How does a lower-caste girl from rural India end up leading a gang of outlaws? Phoolan Devi (Seema Biswas) is married off at 11, then beaten and brutalized by the men around her, and the story follows her from that village to the ravines. Shekhar Kapur builds the film on her bond with Vikram Mallah (Nirmal Pandey), the one man in the gang who treats her as an equal.
