Barbed Wire Dolls

(1976)Directed by Jesús Franco81 minCrime, Drama, Horror
“Welcome to prison, Ladies!”

Maria da Guerra (Lina Romay) is a young woman who has killed her father in self-defense after years of abuse. She is tried, sentenced and sent to a women's penitentiary, where the Wardress (Monica Swinn) runs the cellblock through psychological and sexual cruelty. Jesús Franco keeps the camera close and the footage grainy, and the story turns on the one bond that forms between Maria and the women locked in with her.
