Barry Lyndon

(1975)Directed by Stanley Kubrick188 min · PGDrama, History
“Upstart. Soldier. Hero. Deserter. Scoundrel.”

In eighteenth-century Ireland, a young man named Redmond Barry has no money and no title. He sets out to get both, and the road takes him through the courts and drawing rooms of England. Stanley Kubrick follows him as he becomes Barry Lyndon (Ryan O'Neal), marrying the wealthy Lady Lyndon (Marisa Berenson) to take her late husband's place, though a rise built on cunning has to be defended every day.
