Bastards

Soviet boys, orphaned and left to run wild during the Second World War, are gathered up by Colonel Anton Vishnevetsky (Andrei Panin), who has plans for what they might become. The setup comes from Vladimir Kunin's book, a fictional story about a Soviet counterpart to the Hitler Youth. Aleksandr Atanesyan keeps the camera close to the boys' faces and doesn't look away.
