Erzsébet Báthory (Anna Friel) is a Renaissance noblewoman who has to defend her name and her lands against the legends already forming around her. Juraj Jakubisko, in his first English-language film, sets her beside Juraj Thurzo (Karel Roden) and Ferenc Nadasdy (Vincent Regan), men who want her power and her wealth. She is called the greatest murderess in history, but the men around her are after her fortune.
