Baxter, Vera Baxter

Vera Baxter (Claudine Gabay) is a woman who has been used for years by a husband who leans on her to keep his failing business going. She tells her story in an empty villa to a stranger (Delphine Seyrig), who came because she heard the name Vera Baxter spoken. Marguerite Duras lets the two women sit in the bare house while Vera talks, the villa empty around them.
