“Some Friendships Last Forever”

CC Bloom (Bette Midler) is a loud, hungry young singer who meets Hillary Whitney Essex (Barbara Hershey), a rich and well-mannered girl, as children. The two grow up on opposite sides of money and ambition, writing letters and drifting back together through the years. Garry Marshall keeps the story moving from one stretch of their lives to the next and lets Midler sing her way through it.
