Bean

“One man. One masterpiece. One very big mistake.”

Nobody at London's Royal National Gallery can say why the chairman keeps Bean (Rowan Atkinson) on, since the watchman sleeps on the job and has the judgment of a small child. The board ships him to Los Angeles for the unveiling of Whistler's Mother, a trip meant to embarrass him. Mel Smith, working from a script by Richard Curtis and Robin Driscoll, builds the film around Atkinson's silent, rubber-faced stares.
