Beanpole

Iya (Viktoriya Miroshnichenko) is a tall, quiet woman nicknamed Beanpole, working as a nurse in a Leningrad hospital in 1945, in a city the war has left in ruins. Her friend Masha (Vasilisa Perelygina) comes back from the front, and the two try to build a life out of the wreckage around them. Kantemir Balagov paints the rooms in deep greens and reds, so the damaged city looks almost lit from within.
