Beans

In the summer of 1990, twelve-year-old Tekahentahkhwa, called Beans (Kiawentiio), lives in a Mohawk community near Montreal, caught between childhood and the older girls she wants to be like. Tracey Deer, who lived through the Oka Crisis as a child, follows the 78 days of conflict that tore through Quebec and Canada. Beans tests herself against April (Paulina Alexis), a reckless older girl, and the pull between them grows as the crisis presses in.
