Beasts of No Nation

“Child. Captive. Killer.”

Agu (Abraham Attah) is a young boy in a West African country, pulled into a band of soldiers after war tears through his village. The Commandant (Idris Elba) leads them, and Agu fears him and many of the men around him, yet he feels revulsion and fascination at once. Cary Joji Fukunaga, who also shot the film, shows how a child can be made into a weapon by the people who feed him.
