Beau Geste

“Thundering drama!”

Beau Geste (Gary Cooper) and his brothers John (Ray Milland) and Digby (Robert Preston) join the Foreign Legion, where they come under the rule of Sergeant Markoff (Brian Donlevy). Beau and John are posted to Fort Zinderneuf, and Markoff sets about breaking them, knowing a family secret about a jewel one of them carries. William A. Wellman builds it around a loyalty between brothers that outlasts the sergeant's cruelty and the attack gathering outside the walls.
