Beau Is Afraid

“From his darkest fears comes the greatest adventure.”

Beau Wassermann (Joaquin Phoenix) is a nervous, mild-mannered man who just wants to get home to his mother, Mona (Patti LuPone), and the trip keeps coming apart around him. Her sudden death sends him out into a world that seems built from every fear he has ever carried. Ari Aster fills the odyssey with crowded, overstuffed frames and lets the dread build in the corners of each one.
