Beauty and the Beast

(1991)Directed by Gary Trousdale, Kirk Wise84 min · GRomance, Family, Animation, Fantasy
“The most beautiful love story ever told.”

Belle (Paige O'Hara) is a bookish young woman in a small French village who wants more than the life her neighbors keep offering her. When she takes her father's place as a prisoner in a castle, she finds a furious beast (Robby Benson) and a staff of servants turned into talking candlesticks and clocks. Directors Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise hang the story on an enchanted rose, and with each petal that falls the prince's chance of breaking his curse grows smaller.
