Why would a writer who wants a love story take a desk job she has no use for? Lane Daniels (Hilary Duff) is a freelance journalist who sells Cosmopolitan an article on finding romance at the office, then goes undercover at a finance company to research it. Gil Junger sets her among coworkers like Tom Reinhart (Michael McMillian) and Joanne (Amanda Walsh), where each new friendship makes the cover story harder to keep straight.
