Because I Said So

“She's just your normal, overprotective, overbearing, over-the-top mother.”

Somebody has been placing personal ads on Milly's behalf, and the somebody is her mother. Daphne (Diane Keaton) decides her youngest daughter is not choosing well, so she screens candidates herself, steering Milly (Mandy Moore) toward Jason (Tom Everett Scott) while Johnny (Gabriel Macht) turns up on his own. Michael Lehmann sets this inside a household where Daphne's love and her meddling are the same thing, and Milly has to decide how much of it she can live with.
